How God Has Kept Me All These Years

Irene and I started going to NBC, late in 1964 when the morning service was held in Top Cliff Public School and the evening service was at Humberlea Baptist Church.  We became members in 1967, the year the Church was built, and attended the ground breaking.
The congregation was very friendly and Rev. Arnold McNeil preached the Gospel according to the Bible.

After I joined the church, I became involved in Sunday School and Christian Service Brigade.  Irene was deeply involved in the Church, she found every opportunity to serve.  Irene and I involved ourselves in the programs for children and raised our family here.

Irene went to be with the Lord on October 5th, 2015.  Throughout the years, a lot of love has been shown to us by Northminster.  I found comfort in the support of the church, especially during this difficult time.  Whether people were bringing me a meal or checking in on me, NBC was like a family me.

Over the years, I have enjoyed attending prayer meetings, helping people in need and giving out Bibles.  I joined the Gideon’s and distributed Bibles and their magazines proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The Church recently celebrated 50 years and I praise God that I was able to celebrate it.

50 years from now, the church will have outgrown its current building.  There will be many more programs for the children because there will be a gymnasium.  As the population ages, we will have more programs for the seniors and a food bank for the poor.  We will continue to focus on prayer and evangelism throughout the neighborhood and the world.  I have found over the course of my life -- and I am almost 90 now, that to have a close relationship with Jesus will make for a happy life and God will help us through our trials.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not
despise” (Psalm 51:17).  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
